Trying to install pcstitch

Ok so here the deal i am trying to install pcstitch but it comes up with this:

error number 0x8000FFFF
description:
setup will now terminate

there is an old post with the same thing but I don't understand it I am not that techno savvy could someone help me out with step by step instructions for fixing the problem minus the technospeak please.

What old post? The only thread that comes up when I search the forum for pcstich is this one.

You didn't say what Wine version you're using. If it's older than 1.4, upgrade. If it doesn't work in current Wine, post terminal output. http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log

Upgrade. Versions older than 1.4 are no longer supported.

According to the bug report, all you have to do is install mfc42 with winetricks. http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks

I don't know how to get 1.4 I am using ubuntu and even on here it says the latest version available for ubuntu is 1.3.
I already installed mfc42 and it still doesn't work
