Xmanager failed running office 2007 with wine

Post by allen303allen »

HI:

I'm running a Office 2007 Professional Plus with Wine 1.3.36 under Ubuntu 10.10 (Gnome desktop).

Then I use Xmanager to connect to my Ubuntu, I tried some simple programs with wine such as notepad and winscp, they work fine, but when I run office(tried word and excel), a window come up and says:

The instruction at '0x00603f86' referenced memory at '0x00000010'.
The memory could not be read.
Click OK to terminate the program.

I click OK and the program ends.

I also tried vncviewer, the office ends the same way but without that prompt.

Is this a wine problem or is there anything else I can do?
Thanks for any help.

Did you follow the instructions on the Applications Database for
installing and using Office 2007? This error will occur if you do
not.

Yes, I do exactly what the instructions on the Applications Database for installing and using Office 2007.

BTW, my Ubuntu is running on a VM with VMware, and I run Xmanager and vncviewer on the host with windows XP, don't know if that matters.

It sounds like the popup message is coming from Xmanager, not Office. Is that correct?

Obviously it does, since it's not working.

Yes. And when I clicked OK, Xmanager terminated.

OK, I'll test it on a physical machine in a few days.

Sorry for the bad format, why can't I just edit my post? :(

Read the sticky. That's why it is there to answer this question.
