EA Origin problem

I'm having a pretty annoying issue using EA's Origin client. Using it to run the Mass Effect 3 demo, which works well, by the way. Every so often, the client will give an error about not being able to contact the Origin network, or an unknown error has occurred. The only way to really fix this is to create a new wine prefix, reinstall Origin and start from scratch. Does anyone else have experience using this program, and might they know what the issue might be?

Sorry I didn't give this info initially. Running wine 1.4-rc2 64 bit, ubuntu 11.10 64 bit. Also, rumour on the ea forums is that Origin asks windows to report on network status, and that this can cause problems like mine. So maybe there's some way of forcing wine to report that the network is up to get this sorted out.

Can't be sure, but I may have solved my own problem. Installing wininet through winetricks and adding an empty hosts file seems to allow me to login to Origin. Will wait and see, I guess.
