Wine crashes

Post by FaNtM »

ive read the FAQ and saw that a common problem with emulating games is system freezes/seizures. i followed the FAQ and re-installed my graphics drivers with no success. i think i must be missing something when trying to run wine, but i dont know what it is because this is my first ever Linux install.
i cannot run any type of .exe without it freezing my system entirely- i have to restart it. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wine, as a non privileged application, shouldn't cause any system
freeze. Generally, those are due to bad display drivers

Can you provide what video card and drivers you are using? As it
states in the FAQ, Wine is a user-space application and cannot/should
not 'freeze' up your system.
