Allow multiple users of the Quicken 2011 program

Post by alsemus »

I installed Quicken 2011 in Wine 1.2.3 under a Linux MINT12 System. I am the Administrator. All went well.
I then installed a second user - my wife. In her menu there was a Wine. BUT her wine does not have Quicken 2011. I tried to install Quicken under her login but ran into all sorts of problems - Mainly this dumb Com Error thing.
QUESTION: Since I install Quicken as administrator how do I give all other users access to the program?

Thanks......................... Al

You can't. http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#head-f54d469 ... 0167919859

Can't you install the actual program files outside of C drive, then copy the wineprefix to both users, and both run the shared program (probably not at the same time, but still...). Just because wineprefix cannot be shared doesn't mean the program itself cannot be.

Thank you for your responses. What I found is that loading the following commands
winetricks fontfix
winetricks corefonts vcrun6
winetricks gdiplus
winetricks dotnet20
and then loading program under the user's login seems to work. Haven't fully tested it yet.

I'm not sure what wineprefix is or how one uses it.
Couldn't figure out how to load the program files outside the C: drive either.
But thanks a bunch for all the help....................... Al

Install Quicken twice clearly will resolve the problem, of course with different wineprefix.
If you don't want to install it twice, http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=917422 might be help, I tried, it works, maybe not that perfect.

Just be aware that outside howtos are not supported here, so if you have problems with the instructions in that thread, ask for help there, not here.
