Good news Ubuntu`s update fixed problems in CoreDRAW 9

Post by zeeboos »

Its February 6, 2012. I just downloaded all the updates to Ubuntu 11.10 64bit. I think the updates just came out today. It was a bigger package of updates than the others I have installed in the past. I do not know what they did but whatever it was, it fixed most of the problems in CorelDRAW 9.
I gave it a rating of bronze, and that was being generous, just a few days ago. It seems as thou it is usable now. Not perfect but usable. I will use it this week and evaluate it again in a week or so. It definitely works a whole, whole lot better.

Have you been able to get WordPerfect or Quattro to load and run? I
have tried X3, X4, X5 and can't get past the
first window (error window), which usually hangs the screen and I have
to restart. Wine version 1.3.28-1pclos.

Doug I have never tried Quottro or Wordperfect

Doug I have never tried Quattro or Wordperfect in Wine. I used Wordperfect and Quottro for 11 years but I now use Libre office and Calc because the learning curve is pretty easy. I would do the same for Corel Draw but Inkscape is not able to do multiple pages and the learning curve is much longer. I understand especially if you need to import files from Quattro Pro to Calc. I was not able to Import Quattro pro files into Calc but I did not really need to. I suspect its possible but I tried very little. I only have Wordpefect from 11 years ago so I couldn`t help with Wordperfects newer stuff. Good luck

Doug one more thing.

I do know when I first tried to load Corel Draw in wine 1.3.37 I could not get it past the first screen either. However as soon as I went to a newer version of wine it sailed rite through. I found the easiest way to uninstall and put newer versions of wine on is through the Ubuntu Software centre that is if you use Ubuntu. It takes about five minutes to do it but then I think you need to reload the other programs you use in Wine. I always did and that is where the time went.
Good Luck
