Hello all

Post by Syberia »

Hello fellow Wine users, im having some issues and would love some pointers on how to fix this.

For some unknown reason, my Ubuntu wont let me download Adobe or Java. So I cant watch videos, or play flash games.
I get this error when I try to download Adobe:
The installation or removal of a software package failed
installArchives() failed: dpkg: unrecoverable fatal error, aborting:

unable to create `/var/lib/dpkg/updates/tmp.i': Is a directory
And this when I try to download Java:
installArchives() failed: Preconfiguring packages ...

Preconfiguring packages ...

Preconfiguring packages ...

dpkg: unrecoverable fatal error, aborting:

unable to create `/var/lib/dpkg/updates/tmp.i': Is a directory

So i was curious on if someone had a way to download Adobe/Java through WINE. I looked around, but was un-able to find anything without it failing, or trying to give me a virus.
If there is already another topic about this, I apologize for the un-needed post, but it sucks not being able to do anything but sit here xD
Anyways,
Thanks in advance.

You really don't want to install Java under Wine unless you have something
very special in mind.

Best to ask the Ubuntu folks for help with Java. (And what Adobe package are
you talking about?)
