Counter - Strike with Steam random Freeze, have to shut down

Hey !
So i recently wanted to start playing CS again, i have the cd, installed it on steam and so on.
I think i have the latest version of Wine.
Anyway, the first times it worked fine, but now i get to play like 20 seconds(sometimes even 10-20 minutes), if lucky, and it just freezes and i can't do anything so i have to hold the power button for the laptop to shut down.(or do the alt+SysRq
reisub thing)
What can i do to fix it?
Oh, and also, i don't have any sound while playing.
I have Ubuntu 11.10

update: i don't remember how i installed it the first time with Steam...
Anyway, now i installed it again with the cd.
Now i have 2 places where to start Steam.
The old one is the one that i can play for some while, then i freezes.
The last one that i installed..well, when i click play, it gives me the 'this program has encountered an error...hl.exe' or something like that.

Sounds like drives/hardware problem. Reinstall video drivers. Make sure your video card isn't overheating - pretty common with laptops.

Therese ist a known ati driver Problem. You have to change some settings with aticonfig. Therese is a Bug report somewhere explaining how to wirklich around.
