So, here's the deal, I got 4 core cpu and I can't utilize it's power
WoW has problems with detecting multicore cpus under wine, there is a patch, but it is a bit unstable (so by default it works like on single core cpu).
My system monitor shows 120% of cpu usage with 100% on first core and rest divided between 3 other (while "wine" process is using around 20% of cpu in d3d mode).
Question is: Could putting "wine" process on different core improve perfromance and if yes, how can I do it?
My spec:
Ubuntu 11.10 64
Phenom II x4 @3.3Ghz
4Gb ram (1333)
GTS 250 1GB
Silly me... installed schedtool... however I'm not sure, but I think I can't set affinity for already working process. And if I start wine+wow with affinity argument it will put wow on same core as wineserver etc, right?
That works, Wow.exe running on 1-3 cores and wineserver and other wine processes on core 0. However there is no difference in framerate, in d3d and opengl mode
So my hopes for 25man raiding are gone. Can't enjoy the game with 7fps in heavy fight with low settings (while gettin around 30-40 at 25mans with high settings under windows).
That's strange, I have an old GeForce 8500 GT, and performance in Windows and Linux is almost the same in OpenGL mode.
Uncheck "reduce input lag" and disable your desktop effects.
