Black screen -- MTG: Duels of the Planeswalkers

Post by Piccadilly »

Hello!

I've tried to port these following games:

-Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers
-Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012

...but to no avail. My rig is Macbook Air 2010 2Gb and it runs Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.

I've tried to use Wineskin with 1.3.37 engine and 2.5.3 wrapper. The results on AppDB are positive -- the games are running and everything is ok. Thought I could use 1.3.22 engine and install xact_jun2010 + d3dx9 through winetricks -- it still makes no difference. These games launch, play some in-game sounds and show me an in-game cursor, though everything else is pitch black. Unfortunately, I cannot play the card game only by listening.

I would be very grateful if someone explained me how to run a playable MTG game on Mac OS X. Perhaps I've done something wrong? A step-by-step guide could be nice.

WineSkin is not supported here; this forum is for plain Wine only. They have their own forum; ask there.

Wineskin has their own support forums, please use them. The program's
author would appreciate this.

We can only help those who use 'vanilla' Wine here. It can be
obtained either through MacPorts or Fink.

I highly suggest installing XQuartz 2.7.1 before using Wine as Apple's
X11 product installation will cause problems with Wine.

Also, the Applications Database should contain a 'How-To'. That is
where they belong.

I have the same problem

Post by adremides »

Hi, I have a black screen in Ubuntu 11.10 with Wine 1.3.28. The game is MTG: Duel of the Planeswalkers 2012. I'm really newbie in Linux. Maybe someone can give me a hand with the problem, thanks in advance.

Don't hijack threads.

Your version of Wine is old; upgrade to 1.5.1. If the problem persists, start a new thread and post terminal output.
