Installing the hard way?

Post by stleric »

I'm trying to install a program called PV-WAVE and the installer seems to be failing (early on) for some reason. The installer looks like it uses a lot of java so maybe some kind of interference there. In any event, it occurred to me that maybe I could install PV-WAVE on a real Windows box and copy over the resulting installation. My question then, is that doable, in principle? I think PV-WAVE installs into just one folder tree. In general, if I copied over the files/folders, environment variables and registry settings I should be all set, no?

Just in case; has anyone here tried installing the Windows version of PV-WAVE onto a Linux/WINE setup? How'd it go?

The host OS is OpenSUSE 12.1.

TIA,
eric

There is a Linux version of this software, you could try it first.

I know there is, but we already have the Windows version (running on OS X) and we're not springing for another copy. (Long story).
