SWTOR ETA?

Post by MrJake »

swtor on the app db is still marked as a beta but it has been release officially since midnight and has been playable for early access since the 13th. anyways I can not get it to run in wine. I get stuck at the screen before server selection. others get stuck at server selection.

is this being investigated?

Thanks

Well, has anyone reported a bug? If not, be the first! Only after a bug being reported can the developers focus on such subject.

Whoever wants to maintain it should make a new appdb entry for the
current version and people can post test results and comments there, but
the appdb is not bugzilla. The people who generally write the code to
fix these problems do not use the appdb to hunt for issues to deal with.
They look at the bugzilla reports and use those to prioritize issues. If
people are not filing and adding to actual bug reports then the problem
will not be fixed unless they write and submit the fix code themselves.

How long are you letting the game sit at which ever screen you are
blocked at? Right now my list shows 30min. to 1 1/2 hour queue times
before you can select a server. Is it possible that the pop up box
telling people they are in a queue and how long the wait will be is not
showing up correctly so the player thinks they are stalled?

i logged in home from a server that has no queue. and from here on http://www.swtor.com/server-status i see at as light population atm.

But I let it sat there for about 1 hour yesterday. then gave up to play wow which works great in wine

bummer, was worth a try. I've had pop up boxes not show before so I was
hoping it might be something like that again.

Hey guys, just wanted to inquire to see if anyone has made any progress at all with running TOR through Wine? I am completely new to the Wine community and have absolutely no idea what I am doing, but the Star Wars geek in me drives me to do anything to play that game. I appreciate any efforts that go into finding a workaround. Sorry I can't contribute more :(. Happy Holidays all

Well.. it should be a simple fix, but I'm not sure what it is myself...

The game did work during earlier beta, but right at the end of beta and into release, they made changes to how their server list is displayed (and who knows what else related to it) and its been broken in Wine ever since. Since it did work earlier, I don't think there will be any graphical issues once that problem is resolved.

From what I could tell its an issue with the winsock not able to connect with the servers, but the reports have been filed.

One thing I should add in beta before they changed something to the client we could originally log in and the graphics worked fine as long as you disabled bloom.
