Will my suggestion be considered if I enter it as a bug?

There's already a bug about that issue.

http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11764

You shouldn't file a new one, it would be marked as duplicate and closed.

Generally, it isn't wrong to file bugs for wine, the wine devs definitely read bugs. But I'm afraid, 5.1 sound doesn't have the highest priority.

If voting is enabled for this bug, vote for it. This makes developers
aware that someone needs/desires this feature. However, you are
correct in that it will take work, a lot of it, to enable 5.1 sound in
Wine.

That's a shame it's not a priority, I really had high hopes for wine.

Unfortunately no one really needs more then stereo on their PCs. That's why no one looked at that bug. Besides all sound is currently broken in Wine.

I disagree, a majority of users do use 5.1 even 7.1 sound and have there PCs connected to these systems and it sounds great, I guess Windows has a big step over Wine in this respect, it's a shame like I said. 8)

Maybe it's a subset of users? I could see it I suppose if someone were
using a myth tv set up or something, but they wouldn't need to go
through wine for that. Every computer user I know uses headphones, I
haven't seen anyone with speakers hooked to a PC or laptop in years.
Headphone/mic seems most popular. Or maybe all the people I know are the
smaller subset of users. lol

That majority will be you, and that other person who opened the bug... Every other Wine user would be a minority I guess.

Of course windows has a leg up on Wine. Most everything that produces >2 sound channels is proprietary, closed technology covered top to bottom with 1,000s of patents (esa, dvd, blu-ray). At least Windows good for something (watching movies and playing games). You can do everything else on Linux.

Joking aside, the reason it's not implemented is no one _really_ needs it. And those who needs it are not vocal enough, or rich enough.

Wow you really presume to talk for "everyone" and still do, that's why I said the majority cause no one knows its your opinion against mine, and you don't have to be rich to have 5.1 sound geez get a grip, you simply don't want to implement it cause of BS excuses, so just tell the truth and stop trying to speak for everyone when you don't know what you're talking about.

I've spent enough time on forum and bugzilla to know what people are asking for. And 5.1+ sound ain't it.

It's an open source project. No one is the boss here (well ok, except AJ). If _you_ don't like it you only have 3 options:
1. Do it yourself (which you apparently can't do)
2. Convince some developer(s) to do it for you (and you doing pretty bad job at it so far)
3. Pay someone to do it (that's when it helps to be rich, Codeweavers aren't cheep)

Soooo... make your choice...

I'm going to have to side with Vitamin on this. All I have is a $499
set of headphones (they are Bose in case you were wondering) and they
sound pretty damn good. I don't need or could legally use a thundering
subwoofer. Yes, some folks want this, but the vast majority of
computer users don't and can't.

Of course, you are free to submit/vote for this feature, but I doubt it
is really high on any developer's list of things to do today. Getting
sound fixed so that it runs properly and with the various species of
sound systems (ALSA, OSS, JACK, Pulseaudio) is much, much higher
priority. And maybe when it does, we will have more than two sound
channels....
