Microsoft Office 2007 and Wine only

Hey, I can't even get office 07 to install
I downloaded wine rc3
running on ubuntu 8.04 AMD64

i've completely followed the latest guide in AppDB by Zachary Stewart
I'm able to open setup.exe, but when i hit install.... the program doesn't install anything and just sits there..

Any advice?

Use the cxgames source rpcrt4.dll and it will install just fine. It will hang around 75% during installation for about 10 minutes and then finish if you monitor the terminal you'll see it working slowly.

I have tried Zach's way and here at Wine-Review we continue to use CX's rpcrt4.dll. Additionally for full MS Office 2007 usability CX Office Pro 7.0 will be out very soon, as in 1 week, granted there are no hold ups.

I can tell you first hand that it is very promising as I am on the beta team.

thanks.. using crossover rpcrt4 worked well for the install

But now i have a new problem
i've set wine in xp mode
and word/excel/powerpoint crash after u open them
the same thing happens in safe mode too

when set to vista, the programs don't even open at all

any suggestions?
