wbfs and framwork 3.5 help

Hello i'm trying to load wbfs manager 3.0, but it won't load, it tried but then just quits.
I'm thinking that I need microsoft frame work 3.5, do I have downloaded this and try to install, it always fails just before the end. When i try in terminal , sh winetricks dotnet30 it also fails giving this message "Note: command 'wine sc delete FontCache3.0.0.0' returned status 1. Aborting."

i'm using ubuntu 11.04. anyone got any ideas?

I'm trying to back up my wii games, onto an external hard drive, I have this working before, but had to reinstall 11.04 after upgrading to 11.10 didn't work

Make sure you have the latest Wine, the latest winetricks, and are using a clean wineprefix.

Look for the hidden .wine directory:

In a terminal/console session:

Code: Select all

cd $HOME
ls -a .wine

should return .wine If it does not then the following will not work

and then use the remove command on this directory:

Code: Select all

rm -rf .wine

or you could move it aside using the following command:

Code: Select all

mv .wine{,.backup}

If you want to keep the current prefix for any reason (such as you
have installed a program that works with Wine and do not want to
install it a second time.)

thanks for that..
got the frameworks 3.5 installed. Bloody wbfs manager 3.0 still won't load, its getting further now, giving me an error. the annoying thing is I've had this working before,

hi again, i''ve managed to get net framework 3.5sp1 installed as well as 3.5. wbfs manager 3.0 still won't load. Anyone have any other thoughts on this??

There are native wbfs tools. Use those and create functions to your .bashrc, much more convenient than silly GUI managers.

Hi newguy,

regarding the log requested by dimesio, you weren't meant to search for a log file in your .wine folder, instead please run wine from command line and post the output (if it's too long, use pastebin etc).

Thanks everyone for your replies.
I'm trying to get the correct log.txt , however when i try to run it from terminal I keep getting no such directory.
I'm browsing the 'c' drive, and getting the properties and copying the exact location, but every time I try to cd ~/ it says No such file or directory.

cd ~/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Program_Files/WBFS/WBFS_Manager_3.0 (which is the path specified in the properties)

again your help is much appreciated.

What "properties"? Wine's Program Files subdirectory doesn't normally have an underscore between the words, and I doubt the WBFS Manager 3.0 directory is supposed to have them, either. Try the path with spaces instead of underscores; put quotation marks around the full path.

I tried this and got the same message.

When I said properties, I meant if I go into applications, then into wine, I can browse the c drive. from there I navigate to WBFS manager, right click properties and copy the info for the 'path'

Every time I've tried it so far, i keep getting No such file or directory.

If you get a file not found error, please do the following:

You probably should file a bug. Explain what you did to install, including winetricks, provide free download link, etc. The wine devs are definitely reading bug reports, yet it may take some time to get that bug fixed.

Did it work in older wine versions? This didn't become quite clear from your first post. You may try to install some older wine versions and/or older Ubuntu (on another partition etc). If wbfs manager needs to install a driver, it may (not) work in wine regarding access to wii media, even if that bug gets fixed. There's hardly any support for windows drivers in wine, I'd really be astonished, if a driver installed by wbfs manager would work flawlessly.

Either way, it still makes sense to file a bug, because the application shouldn't crash that way.

Another thing, when you tried older wine versions, did you always use a clean wine prefix? Especially the .NET stuff gets mixed up, when using different wine versions.
