all of my games that i try to install all ask me ti install directx, so i am
wondering do i need to set some of the dx .dll's to native in winecfg or
just ignore the directx promptings. also how do you change a game to render
with openGL instead of directx?

.dll settings?
Re: .dll settings?
What Wine version are you using? And what games are you talking about?Arthur Squassabia wrote:all of my games that i try to install all ask me ti install directx,
You can do either. Even if you install DX only few files will really be used. And you don't need to override themArthur Squassabia wrote:so i am

Ask on the game's support channel/forum/group/etc. This has nothing to do with Wine.Arthur Squassabia wrote:also how do you change a game to render

A version of directx is built into wine. Also wine will not work withso it doesn't matter if dx is installed?
a fully native microsoft directx. Some of the .dlls can work but not
the whole package.

Re: .dll settings?
You better reconsider and use the latest available version. That way you will help catch any last minute issues.Arthur Squassabia wrote:On Fri, May 30, 2008 at 1:30 PM, vitamin <[email protected]> wrote:

Ah those old things. They are asking for the old version of DX... even on windows. You can safely ignore that.Arthur Squassabia wrote: as for games, it's mainly heroes of might and magic III complete, and civ3,

HoMM 3 works fine here (even unpatched) with rc1+
But Civ3 still has problems....
