Sugarsync not working now.

Post by Brianrh »

Hi all

First post on the Wine forum and a newbie to Linux but I'm loving it.

I was surprised how well Sugarsync ran in Wine until, when a window opened in Sugarsync and prompted me to update I accepted. Now it won't synchronise and has corrupted the cloud storage. I tried uninstalling then reinstalling but it was still the same. The version of Sugarsync I have upgraded to is 1.9.35 and although I have searched the web and asked Sugarsync for a copy of the previous version, I have had no luck. I am running Wine version 1.2.2 on Linux Mint.

Also I see a new stable version of Wine 1.2.3 is available; how do I go about updating as the Linux Mint update manager hasn't upgraded Wine automatically?

Thanks.

Ask your distro. How to use your package manager is not a Wine issue.

FYI, even the latest "stable" release is very old. You might want to try the latest development release.

I found a thread saying that you could do a fresh install of the latest version of Wine and it would overwrite the old files. I didn't want to try this without a more informative opinion and risk causing problems with the other programs I run in Wine.

Thanks for your help.

Not Wine

Post by trungpham »

The problem is not wine. Try to install Sugarsync version 1.9.28. It works like a charm. But Sugarsync will automatically update to 1.9.35 that sucks. That behavior is really annoyed and renders Sugarsync unusable now.

Dimesio - thanks for the link, I understand a bit more Wine having read through the page. As I thought it isn't a Wine problem it's Sugarsync. So I will not worry about the update at present but query that with the Linux Mint people.

That fits in with what I had found. Now for the 64 dollar question - where can I find a copy of Sugarsync 1.9.28?

I really do appreciate the help you folks are giving me.

Thanks.
