Can wine have global system settings? or use sudo?

Post by rolandixor »

:?: Hi!
I've been using wine a while now with great success.
However, I'm about to introduce others to linux using Ubuntu 8.04.

The issue is, I'll have to install every program and library 3 or more times!!!
I can't have that issue in the way! They won't be as patient as me!

Please tell me there is a way around this, like using /usr/share/wine?   :!: :?:   :D

lol.
I'm almost commanding you to tell me yes!!!

Short answer is no. Wine is not (currently) meant to be shared amongst
users. Some users have tweaked around this...try searching the forum
for a few examples.

You can try and copy the ~/.wine directory for each user (resetting owner/group). See if that works. You might need to check registry, symlinks to make sure they don't point to original user's directoies

that's sadly not what I'd like.
