Anyone got a game that's free or cheap to test Hero Engine on? Would just
like to see how wine does with SW TOR coming out soon. Tempted to pre-order
even if it doesn't work.

Re: Hero Engine
This is definitely a game that needs to be supported.dardack wrote:Anyone got a game that's free or cheap to test Hero Engine on? Would just

Faxion uses HeroEngine... I have not tried hard to get it to run, but I cannot get the game to install, or the login/patch to run. Some people said installing and patching on Windows and moving the files over lets the game run, but it still has issues. I was waiting until if I ever got in SWTOR beta to worry about it and not mess with Faxion much.

me to put wndows on a partition. He even has an old vista license for me
(he bought a full 7 i guess). I don't know been linux bunch of years now.
Would hate to do that. Hell if you read my post on getting my sound
running perfectly, you'll see the crap i'll put myself through.

HeroEngine will supposedly support an OpenGL version sometime in Q1 2012, with support for Mac OS X, Linux, and iOS they claim.
SWTOR is highly customized... by the time this gets debugged, fixed, and BiWare even looks at trying to get it in the main game... it will be sometimes in 2013 unless they are really going to jump on it. It much more likely for them to support Macs than Linux, but either way, if you want to play in the next 6 months or a couple of years without using Windows, we need to get it working in Wine. Being DX9 i don't think it should be too hard.

going dx10/11 only at one point, but saw they included 9. Here's hoping it
works well.
