Wine-No CD-ROM drive found
Ok, i'm terrible with computers, so i would like an explanation in simple terms. So I'm trying to play a game using Wine, I've installed the game, but when i click play, a box pops up that says "No CD-ROM drive found" I would like to know how to fix this problem.

Read that 4.1.4 paragraph. Basically, you probably need to have your drive mapped in winecfg (it's in the link I sent you, but you can do it graphically in winecfg). If it is already, then the issue is different and you should come back with some terminal output.

Re: Wine-No CD-ROM drive found
Ok, i think i have my CD-ROM drive mapped out, i got something like this,//home/thanatos777/.wine/dosdevices/d:/cdrom':. The Type is set as "local hard disk". Now what?jorl17 wrote:http://www.winehq.org/docs/wineusr-guid ... ain#AEN605Bellator777 wrote:Ok, i'm terrible with computers, so i would like an explanation in simple terms. Auto?
Auto detect (for finding the storage type) has never failed me.
Do you have D mapped to '/media/[whatever]"?
Did you check via typing "mount" in terminal or by Nautilus that you assigned a drive letter to where the disc is mounted?
Cheers,
Jake
P.S Maybe it would be a good idea if WINE prefixes would automatically detect inserted CDs and assign them drive letters. Maybe. Or Maybe have auto-detection as an option?

I have several 'extra' drives on my Mac as installers come as 'disk
image' files. I fired up winecfg and I had drives, drives and more
drives. The disk image files were marked as read-only local hard
drives. The DVD for Quake4 was marked as a CD-Rom/DVD and again
read-only.
I could clean up what is there and then see what happens when I start
up Winecfg again this evening.
