Should I report my problem in Bugzilla? Outcast problem.

Post by Rémi G. »

Hi,

I have good news about running Outcast in Wine! Since Wine 1.0-rc2,
I can play the Outcast Demo perfectly in Wine (with high quality
settings)! The only problem is that the game doesn't run in fullsreen
which is a little boring because the Outcast maximum resolution is
512x384... I also get few errors in a terminal output probably due to
the main menu (not important!).

Unfortunately, I can't play the Outcast game. When using an
alternative loader.exe file (which seems to be a no-cd crack), I can see
the menu but I can't start a new game (see the attached file below).

Does anybody has an idea? What could I try to avoid this crach?
Since I've seen the demo running in wine, I'm sure this game could work
perfectly in wine!
And a last question : should I report these errors in bugzilla (as a new
bug?)?

Thank for your answer and thank you to people who take time to improve
this game!

Yes. Attach the complete terminal output to the bug (as a text file attachment).

looks like a crash in wine's amstream.dll. You could try if you can get further with a native amstream.dll

Thank you for your help! If I try a native amstream.dll file, I can play
the game! Everything is working perfectly in high details (even
fullscreen now) except :
- mouse : I can't turn more than 45° left or 45°right... I'm always
walking in the same direction :(
- I can't skip "credits" when I quit the game (I think it crashes but
I'm not sure).

About the mouse, I think you're seeing this bug: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6971

Hi, i've applyied some patches to wine to play Outcast.

This does't solve the mouse problem, what patch do you use actually and what is your command-line to run the game ?

Thank you !
