restart windows problem

Post by doronyon »

I installed wine on mandriva 2008.1 spring

I installes a software called BeInSync.
the install was succesfull but when I try to start the program I get a message that the computer needs to be restarted.

restarting wine q booting the computer diidn't solve the problem.

It seems as if the application don't recognize the restart and waits for the restart after the installtion.

anyone has an idea ?

Tried this and I still get the error that it needs to reboot. I am trying to install Rubiks Games and the issue is with DirectX 6. It keeps saying it needs to reboot.

I have tried wineboot -r and wineboot -e -r

Any suggestions on where to go now?

I found a registry key called BIS_RESTART was set to 1
I renamed int and the message didn't show up again.
now there is another problem.

when I try to load the app I gwt an error msg on the console:
fixme:xrender:X11DRV_AlphaBlend not a dibsection

mybe I need to run the setup startup sequence. anyone knows how to run the startup sequence during windows boot ?

Thanks for the suggestion - unfortunately it did not work. The funny thing is the game runs fine on my desktop - loaded and ran - without a reboot error.

My laptop - no luck. Both are running Kubuntu. Both originally loaded with RC1.

Are there any suggestions to get Direct6 not want to reboot. Or actually get it to reboot.

Any option not to install Direct X 6 since wine has it own version of it.

That would be ideal - but unfortunately no that is not an option. Thanks for the reply and suggestion.

I could try to load the install files on the hard drive and load from there and see if that works. The problem is, I suspect, the reboot request will not leave.

I just find it curious that on one it works but on the other it does not.

http://wiki.jswindle.com/index.php/Wineboot has instructions for manually simulating a reboot.

Thanks that did not work. Infact if I understand the instructions, they are telling you to remove the file.

I think it is time to abandon this. Wineboot just does not work on this unit. If I want to play the game, I will just have to use VirtualBox or use my desktop, were the funny thing is it worked without an issue.

I will keep checking in though to see if anyone can come up with a solution.
