Hi,
Here's a question for any of you who use DNS recent versions.
Nuance is having a "Multiple Copies" half-price sale (ending on Sept. 30 2010) on DNS-11 Premium for owners of DNS-10 Preferred software. My only experience is with running DNS under MS Vista. I am wondering whether, in addition to upgrading to DNS-11 under Vista, it would be worthwhile for me to buy a second copy to use under openSUSE GNU/linux (which is my preferred operating system, anyway).
(1) Have any of you Wine Users tried DNS-11 Premium, yet?
(2) The DNS-11 Systems Requirement List mentions "Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or Higher" as a necessary minimum. I am a Mozilla-Firefox user and never go online with MS IE. Have any of you tried DNS-Any Version with an internet browser other than IE?
Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11
I don't know the international policy, but in the Netherlands I called Nuance about installing on more than one system I was allowed to install on two different computers if the copies wouldn't be used at the same time, because it's a single user license.
You should find out if you really need to buy another copy.

You're welcome to buy another copy, but you can activate Dragon legally on up to 5 computers. When activating the 6th time your serial code is blocked.
But when you uninstall a copy and the computer has internet access at that time the copy is deactivated and the counter goes one down. So if you completely want to reinstall your system, deinstall Dragon before you format your drive.
It's legal. It's a one person license, not a one computer license. It's mentioned in the manual too that it's permitted to install Dragon on more than one computer. Read it yourself. The maximum of 5, I heard from Nuance support.
But if you really want to buy more copies to profit from the discount (still cost you more money though): be my guest.
And please let us know how Dragon 11 performs under WINE.

Thank you MrZehl. I actually spoke with a representative who called from Nuance yesterday, offering one last chance for me to obtain another copy of DNS-11 before the expiration date arrived today for the special sale pricing. I explained that although I had seen that some people had tried DNS-10 with WINE, it appeared that not all of the DNS-10 features were obtainable yet. I told him that although I use Windows for some computer activity, I do most computer work under openSUSE Linux. I wanted to have Dragon help me in Linux - not in Windows. I told him specifically that I would be interested in buying a copy for my own use (the existing household copy is for another family member's use), but not until it became possible for me to obtain full-featured service from it, meaning whenever Nuance gets around to making their commercial version Linux-friendly (They now produce versions only for Windows and Macintosh). He said that he understood, so I hope that this message gets back to the "deciders" in Nuance and that they decide to include Linux in their system requirements list for future versions.
As for uninstalling while on line, I have to tell you that I NEVER go on line with my computer under Windows. I ONLY attach to the Internet while in Linux! (It's just a personal prejudice of mine.)

Dragon NaturallySpeaking
I have just purchased Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 11 premium. I am trying to activate it on more than one computer, but it is only letting me activate it on one computer. Do you know the trick for getting Dragon NaturallySpeaking to allow me to activate my program on more than one computer without uninstalling on the first computer?
