Setting devenum.dll to native didn't stop it from crashing for me, either, but disabling it did. Try that.

Some improvement. It let me check the box to save password and auto
login. Then got as far as 'checking registration' before it crashed. I
have an updated version to 9.1 Not sure if there are many changes. Would
it help to send the output of the exe of the 9.1?
Bob:

Please stop top posting and add a little more quoting so that someone new to the mailing list can figure out what is going on. Interleave your responses to questions within your reply message.

Again, please capture a logging file and post it to a site like pastebin.com. THEN post the URL as a reply to this message in the mailing list.

Thank you.

Still new to this. Not sure what I should have done. What's a 'little more quoting' and 'interleave your respones to questions within your reply message.'
After I capture a logging file and post it to pastebin I should
send that to wine-users and the URL in a separate post. Sorry I'm
confused. Will do it right as soon as I know. Sorry about that.

Mailing list 'netiquette' frowns upon top posting, which is very normal in a business situation where one message == one reply. Mailing lists consist of 'threads' where messages may have multiple answers in a non-specified order. Thus my replies should be after yours, but in context. Thus your questions are answered in a compartmentalized fashion.

The second problem with mailing lists is that people join and leave them at whim. Thus it is totally possible to step into a series of back and forth replies. Without a slight bit of quotation, it is possible to make the mistake of supplying an incorrect answer or an answer that was previously given.

After I capture a logging file and post it to pastebin I should
send that to wine-users and the URL in a separate post. Sorry I'm
confused. Will do it right as soon as I know. Sorry about that.

Simple answer: Reply to the request for the logging file and put the URL on a line underneath the request. That way folks who are just joining the mailing list know what the URL is for.

After putting the URL in the message you can provide additional information at this point at the bottom of the message. Remove any previous signatures and 'taglines' that appear at the bottom of the message. You can also 'trim' the content of the message to remove any information that does not apply to your request. If you previously supplied information on how the program was run or if you created a new Wine Prefix, leave that in the message.

We are here, mostly as volunteers, to help YOU get YOUR favorite program working. Some folks are very picky on which messages they answer and if you top post or leave out quoting, they skip that message and go to the next one. If you are a habitual violator of these 'rules', they just discard your messages.

The effort is to get more people involved in resolving your problem.

James McKenzie

Thanks James. Re: pastebin. I copied the terminal output and then pasted it in the pastebin.com space and clicked 'submit'. Then I should open a message and paste the URL there, and any more info at the bottom of the message below the URL? New info, like can I remove ispq and make a new wineprefix removing only that one program should be OK to post like this or should it be in a new message? I tend to stick to things til they get figured out, and not disappear. Except tomorrow. May have some work to do here for hurricane EARL tomorrow. Live in Rhode Island. Hope it isn't too bad a storm. Thanks again. Bob

The other really important thing is to trim messages
when replying. It's really hard to read messages that have
zillions of old quoted bits. Please remove all quoted text
except for parts that are really relevant.

Will do. Just realized that to open ispq9.1 I have to click the exe file. It won't open from Wine. Crashes. The exe file opens but with no camera or sound. Think I may have goofed in installing the 9.1 with the 9.0 there. Good idea to start with a new wineprefix with 9.1? Bob

Yes, it's a good idea to start with a clean wineprefix. However, if you mean it crashes when you try to run it from a terminal but not when you click the exe, you're doing something wrong at the command line. Have you changed to the program directory before trying to run it?

As for the webcam, it didn't work for me, either, and I wouldn't expect it to. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16147

Only tried to run it from Wine and desktop icon. Crashes both cases. Clicking the exe opens it but tiny font size and not fully functional. Will start with clean wineprefix. Thanks

Have a clean wineprefix with ispq91-05.msi installed. It opens from
Wine or the desktop icon for about 30 sec and then crashes. I'm sure
I should send the terminal output to you. Don't want to make a
mistake so ... paste the terminal output of the .exe to pastebin.com,
then click 'submit'. Open a message with the pastebin URL at the top
and any relevant info below the URL. Am I right? Hope so.
Thanks Bob

That'll work, though if the output is short, you can just post it here.

http://pastebin.com/iahdknGY
quite a large output. The Program opens with just the frame and a list
of contacts. All icons are grayed out or non-functional, and font size
is very small. It never logs in and crashes after about 30 sec. Does the
same thing from Wine Programs and desktop icon.
Thanks Bob

At this point, I would give up if I were you, until others had
reported success with this app.

No point struggling so hard. Can you try some other video chat
program, say, native linux skype?

Got it. Seems good and it works. Will Wine experts still work on programs like iSpQ and icu2 so that sometime they will be OK? Thanks for the help. Bob

If you file a bug report with details for EACH problem:

Web cam does not work, bug already filed, you need to update and include
this progam as needing it.

Small fonts. Need to look for a bug report that fonts are not being
displayed correctly, they are too small, and then update it.

Create an applications database entry for these programs, if they do not
exist and rate them. If there are entries for these programs, update
the ratings with your own.

This is how users can and do make Wine better.

Still learning. I added a comment to the bug already filed re:
the cam not working in iSpQ 9.1 and icu2. Checked the programs and icu2
needs just the camera to work. Do I file another bug just for that one
problem and that one program? iSpQ has other problems like the font
size. Is there an effective way to search for a bug already filed, so I
don't duplicate it. Thanks. Bob

No. However, you can go over to our Applications Database, and if an
entry does not exist for this program, create one. There is a process
for linking the bug to the Applications Database so that when the bug is
closed out the AppDb entry is updated.

Just put Font Size in the find box and click the Search button. You may
have to go through the entries to find one that describes your problem.

Don't touch the Assigned to field. For the URL field, add the URL where the app can be downloaded.

Need help with the application database. Is

Gold, Silver apps, and guess I'm in the wrong place. Don't see where

That's the right place. You need to create an AppDB account and log in, then click on "Submit app" in the menu on the left and then fill out the form.

The tar.bz is for building from source. I think you probably want to upgrade through your package manager.
