cannot play wolfenstein anymore :-)

after updating to 1.3.1 it says to have no permission to play! What the heck!

probabyl cause i removed .wine as some weird dll winetricks install broke a few things (was for win98...)

Then you have to re-install Wolfenstein per the Applications Database.
If that does not work, then run the installer from a terminal session
(http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#run_from_terminal) and then see what happens.

what the heck...reinstalled in 1.3.1 (new .wine)and still this message. Is this intended as copyright protection? :evil:

Try setting gameux.dll to disabled in winecfg.

Now i wonder what gameux is useful for, apart creating confusing messages.

It's the Games Explorer from Windows Vista/7, which is reported to prevent games from working on Windows, too.

A regression report would be nice. Can this game be downloaded as a
trial/demo from anywhere other than Steam?

If disabling gameux fixes it there's no need for a bug report; there's already one for Civ 4, http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23901

Adding a comment to that bug that it also affects Wolfenstein, and a bug link to the AppDB, would be appropriate.
