Can't run NFS Most Wanted on Wine 1.0.1

Post by Dezfor »

Hello,
I'm trying to launch NFS MW on Wine 1.0.1, but instead of playing game i get errors in console:

Code: Select all

$ wine "/media/USBFLASH/nfs/speed.exe"
fixme:mixer:ALSA_MixerInit No master control found on HDA ATI HDMI, disabling mixer
fixme:imm:ImmDisableIME (0): stub
err:wgl:get_render_type_from_fbconfig Unknown render_type: 0
err:wgl:get_render_type_from_fbconfig Unknown render_type: 0
fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x32f93c,0x00000000), stub!
err:wgl:X11DRV_wglGetPixelFormatAttribivARB unexpected RenderType(8)
err:wgl:X11DRV_wglGetPixelFormatAttribivARB unexpected RenderType(8)
err:x11settings:X11DRV_ChangeDisplaySettingsEx No matching mode found 640x480x32 @0! (XRandR)
err:d3d:WineD3D_ChoosePixelFormat Can't find a suitable iPixelFormat
X Error of failed request: GLXBadDrawable
Major opcode of failed request: 143 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 5 (X_GLXMakeCurrent)
Serial number of failed request: 567
Current serial number in output stream: 567
What's wrong? I hardly can understand the output. I have ATI x1250 video card. I suggest that problem with it, but in what? Proprietary Driver doesn't work as it should be. or what?

Looks like bad video drivers but you are also running an old version
of wine. I would upgrade that first.

I can confirm that NFS:MW runs perfectly on wine 1.3.0 (built from git) with nvidia driver version 256.35. Upgrading wine really should help.

I run it with a virtual desktop - that way the game has no trouble getting whatever resolution it wants. Run winecfg, and in the Graphics tab, enable "Emulate a virtual desktop".

Problem isn't in Wine's version. I remember that i launched NFS on Ubuntu 8.10 and it was fine.

I explored that Direct rendering was not enabled in my system. So, i reconfigured xorg.conf and now it works. But some problems are stiil exist:

Code: Select all

wine "/home/media/nfs_be/speed.exe"
fixme:imm:ImmDisableIME (0): stub
fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x32f81c,0x00000000), stub!
fixme:d3d:debug_d3dformat Unrecognized 909198916 (as fourcc: DF16) WINED3DFORMAT!
fixme:d3d:getFormatDescEntry Can't find format unrecognized(909198916) in the format lookup table
wine: Call from 0x7edcddd3 to unimplemented function d3dx9_36.dll.D3DXCreateEffectFromResourceA, aborting
err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code 80000100 flags 1 addr 0x7edcddd3

Let me check code real quick...

It's there in Wine 1.3.0 You need to upgrade to this version. Wine
1.0.1 is NO LONGER SUPPORTED.
