running wine on windows

Howdy all, quick question.

As you know, The knights of the old republic games have a hard time running on windows 7 effectively, and even harder on vista.

I was wondering if you can run wine on windows? And if so, can you use it to run older programs that can't run on newer OS's?

Finally, are there any instructions on using wine?

Why not use the Win 7 virtualizer to run XP? Maybe the Knights game
runs OK on XP?

belive it or not, I've tried using VMWare to run KotOR. doesn't work out that well...

No, you can't. You can only use some Wine dlls in place of Windows' ones. Wine as a whole can't run on Windows.

ok, fair enough. I have a few mandriva disks that I can use to install the OS in vmware.
