wine and ms money 97

Hello,
I use ubuntu 10.04 LTS - le Lynx Lucide and wine 1.1.42 (windows not
installed and application default parameters : win98).
i've tried to install microsoft money 97 that seems to work correctly
(100% ok) until the end of the process when the following message (in
french) appears :
"la tentative d'enregistrement automatique de SCHANNEL.DLL dans la base
de registres du système a échouée"
"schannel.dll automatic registry record failed"

Try upgrading to the current release of wine (1.2rc7). Since you're using Ubuntu you can follow the directions on this page http://www.winehq.org/download/deb to get the most recent version of WINE.

After upgrading please post back if this fixed the problem or if it still persists.

Please update to the latest release candidate, 1.2-rc7.

Is the app installed at that point? Have you tried to run it? The error message may not matter.

The AppDB says Money97 is garbage, but that's based on ancient test reports.

As others have said, uprgrade Wine. If that doesn't fix it, run it from a terminal and post whatever messages appear. http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#run_from_terminal

i've updated to Wine 1.2-rc7 but nothing changes.

if i run msmoney.exe directly from "c:\Program Files\Microsoft
Money\msmoney.exe" the introduction image appears followed by the
classic Wine error message (in french) "erreur du programme : le
programme msmoney.exe a rencontré un problème sérieux et doit fermer...".

if i run msmoney.exe from a terminal the error message is :
fixme:exec:SHELL_execute flags ignored: 0x00000100
cristina@cristina-laptop:~$ wine: Unhandled division by zero at address
0x68430b25 (thread 003b), starting debugger...

it does'nt seem to be a big problem (very small and old program) but...

Delete or rename ~/.wine and run the installer from a terminal. A new ~/.wine will automatically be created. Post the complete terminal output, including the command you used to start the installer. If it's long, use a site like pastebin.com and post a link.
