IrfanView/IrfanPaint-Latest update doesn't save paint edits

Post by emarkay »

For a while, IfranPaint has given me trouble in keeping the changes it has made applied to the original. In 4.25 I found that if you zoomed to "Original Size" it would keep it's data (lines text, edits, etc.) when the dialog was closed, but now, in 4.27 (with the latest 4.13.67 version Paint) , there is nothing I can find to keep the changes. Even saving "in process" does not keep the changes made to that point! Using an updated Ubuntu Lucid and WINE 1.1.42.

Post here on teh IrfanView boards:

Also note that the Developer of IrfanPaint is releasiing it to the OS comunity so if anyone is interested in this...

That version is old. Upgrade to the latest development release (1.2-rc6). If that doesn't fix it, post terminal output.

The Ubuntu PPA only gave me 1.2rc5.

How do I get a terminal output - I have a desktop shortcut of "Applications >Wine > Programs" to launch it?

Also this did not make any difference - still not working.

See this thread on the Irfanview board for more info.

Sorry about the double link - and I can't edit that post to remove it.

This is all I get:

~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/IrfanView$ wine start i_view32.exe
fixme:exec:SHELL_execute flags ignored: 0x00000100

Still not working.

That's not the correct way to start it. Follow the instructions in the FAQ.

I downloaded Irfanview and tested it. It needs mfc42, but with that installs and starts up just fine.

Saving changes that have been made with the paint plug-in also seem to work fine. I used the paint plug-in that came with Irfanview 4.27. Is that the right version? Can you give me exact steps to reproduce the problem?

I managed to reproduce the problem. It seems to only affect adding text and lines; other changes are saved. There's nothing obvious in the console. File a bug.

Eh?
"Change directory" to the folder where the program is located and run the .exe file using only its filename.
cd '.wine/drive_c/Games/Tron'
wine tron.exe"
=
".wine/drive_c/Program Files/IrfanView$" is the dir, and
"wine start i_view32.exe" starts it.

Oh and there may very well be a bug in WINE:

Teh Devloper has tested it and posted information "over my head" on it.

Looks like the "Paint" developer is letting this project go.
Anyone who's willing can take it over - just a FYI:
