Wine version? If it's not the latest development release, upgrade.

Run the installer from a terminal. Make sure your dvd drive is mapped in winecfg.

Even if you get it installed, i'm not sure you'll be able to play it. Using the DRM or the DRM-bypass file results in the game not starting.

Unless something has changed in Wine 1.2 rc6....hmm, should check that out.

You do, and you will get no help here.

Also, right clicking may or may not work....

Please visit our wonderful Applications Database. This has instructions
on how to load and use Assasins Creed.

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... &iId=11230

Is the page you seek.

If the information there does not help, please advise.

Pardon me. It seems that it is working. :) I didn't even check. :p

Perhaps providing the log, trying to manually run the setup.exe, might be helpful.

Actually, at this point, providing a log file would not help. However,
if you used information from the Applications Database it would be
useful to provide feedback.

Try this:

Code: Select all

dd if=/dev/cdrom of=yourfile.iso
That should get you an ISO of the DVD. If /dev/cdrom doesn't exist, try /dev/dvd or similar - anyway, it's supposed to be pointing straight to the DVD data.

As for running the game, how are you trying to run it? You should open a terminal, cd to the proper directory and run wine Setup.exe there.

Forgot something: dd is something you're supposed to run as root.

Good to hear that the problem was of a different nature rather than Wine's. But in the future, PLEASE don't double-post so much.

The software center surely has some ISO creators too if dd fails.
