On my Ubuntu system, when I click on a web link in my email program (Kmail), a winebrowser dialogue appears but the default browser (Firefox) is not called up. I am NOT using Kmail inside Wine so I don't understand why Winebrowser is being called.
How do I fix this problem? I have removed and reinstalled Wine.
Thanks
Winebrowser from Kmail?????
Re: Winebrowser from Kmail?????
Kmail uses whatever browser you set as the default for your system. You need to change the default browser in KDE.rdean61 wrote:On my Ubuntu system, when I click on a web link in my email program (Kmail), a winebrowser dialogue appears but the default browser (Firefox) is not called up. Re: Winebrowser from Kmail?????
I use Ubuntu, not that it matters because I have Firefox already set up as the default browser.dimesio wrote:Kmail uses whatever browser you set as the default for your system. You need to change the default browser in KDE.
I think the question I have is why does Kmail call winebrowser in the 1st place? I'm not using Wine except for one program and it has nothing to do with either E-mail or web browsers.
Thanks
Re: Winebrowser from Kmail?????
I've never tried to run Kmail in Gnome; in KDE it uses the system's default browser. The one possibility I can think of is winemenubuilder might have added a mimetype association for html files. Check file associations on your system.rdean61 wrote: I use Ubuntu, not that it matters because I have Firefox already set up as the default browser.

I'm not sure how to check file associations in Ubuntu.dimesio wrote:I've never tried to run Kmail in Gnome; in KDE it uses the system's default browser. But, I'm still left with the question of why is Wine being evoked in the 1st place. Heck, I even removed Wine from the system and still got the winebrowser dialogue.

I don't use Ubuntu, so I can't help you there. Ask on the Ubuntu forum.rdean61 wrote: I'm not sure how to check file associations in Ubuntu.
Because if html files have been associated with winebrowser, that's what the system will use to try to open them. But, I'm still left with the question of why is Wine being evoked in the 1st place. Heck, I even removed Wine from the system and still got the winebrowser dialogue.
What exactly does this dialog say?
