Activating Movie Magic Screenwriter 6

Post by JustSteph »

Hi
I have installed Movie Magic Screenwriter 6 in Wine on Ubuntu 10.4, but when I get to the activation stage, it gets stuck on "Waiting for response from server"

Anyone any idea how to fix this?

Thanks
Steph

What version of Wine? If it's older than 1.2-rc5, upgrade. If you still have problems, run it from a terminal and post whatever messages appear.

Thank you.

I don't know what version of wine it is but I only installed it a few weeks ago, so I assume it's the newest one.

And running it in a terminal just began running the program. I don't know how to get it to run the activation stage in the terminal.

Upgrade to 1.2-r5. Follow the instructions I linked to for running in a terminal.

I've downloaded it and extracted it into my home directory but I can't figure out how to install it.

Sorry, I'm very new at this.

Sounds like you downloaded source code. You would have to build that yourself, and I doubt you want to do that.

You should be able to upgrade through your package manager, but you have to add the right repository. I believe it's ppa:ubuntu-wine/ppa, and the package you want to install is called wine1.2. Beyond that I can't help, as I don't use Ubuntu; ask on the Ubuntu forum.
