Weird font in Firefox

Post by ashaman »

Has anyone else had an issue with the font in Firefox? In particular, the font up on the toolbar, buttons, and any text that you type in on a website? I recently installed Firefox (mostly so I can access pages that require the most recent version of Flash) and I get an italicized font with a clear line through the middle of it in the locations I mentioned. It's readable, but just barely. Is there a way to change that font? I installed Firefox version 2.0.0.14 on wine 0.9.59.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Does apt-getting msttcorefonts change the behavior at all?

I use PCLinuxOS, and msttcorefonts does not appear to exist in the repositories. I'm not quite sure if that would help anyway since (to my knowledge) wine doesn't use Linux fonts... does it?

It's in some additional repositories. The winetricks script is also a
good way to install it.

Yes, wine can take advantage of MS fonts. It depends on what fonts the program being run uses. WINE can use msttcorefonts. When it doesn't find them, it looks for equivalent open-source fonts but doesn't always find them, or make a wise choice when it does.

Thanks Susan, I downloaded some MS fonts and it worked like a charm!
