I cannot install WoW
I compile and install the 1.1.42 wine version without problems. I copy all files of the installation DVDs in my home directory and then install it. 1.1.42 wine version, is the recomended in the Top-10 Gold List.
Classic WoW and The Burning Crusade are installed ok, but WOTLK not detect the installation files.

If you log into your account at the battlenet page you can do the install as a
download from the website, no disks or disk images needed. As long as you
don't have metered internet it is usually less of a hassle to install that
way.
I just checked my disk images and all three work fine, but I am only in wine
1.1.38 so that's not a good comparison for you.
If you need to do the install from your disks/drive check the wowwiki wine
page for installs or the troubleshooting page, one of those may have a work
around listed for you to try:

I try install with the instructions what I read in http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... &iId=17421
Step 1: Install methods
Currently, you MUST downgrade to wine 1.1.26 or lower to install WoW due to regressions. If you are using the stable version, you need not worry. (Maybe it's just my computer, I don't know)
You can install World of Warcraft in wine through a variety of methods, such as using the CD or automatic downloader. If you wish, you may simply run it from a Windows partition, it's your choice ultimately.
Once WoW is installed, you may upgrade back to the newer version.
Okay, I install wine 1.1.26 and try again to install, all installation files in my hard disk. WoW Classic and TBC no problem, WOTLK I have the EXACT error again. I install the game in my $HOME/Windows directory.
# wine --version
wine-1.1.26

If you mount the Wrath DVD (normally, not to install) and "look" at theI burn 2 DVDs with the installation files of WOTLK. The first DVD contains
all data files without the last 2 tome files. The second DVD contains only
Installer.exe file and these 2 tome files.
When I use wine, installation program not detect the DVDs
contents can you see more than a few files?

Impossible.
The first day WOTLK in shop in spain, many people write in spanish wow forum many problems to use the DVD, something was wrong when blizzard burns DVDs. In windows, many messages of data corrupted. Other people no problems in the installation.
For me, the only possible installation method was copy all tome files, only one file every time, to hard disk, and then install. In these days, I am windows user only. For possible future problems, I copy all installation files in a private ftp server, in my house.
Actually I no use windows. If I try to use the original DVD disk of WOTLK in Linux, I see only the DirectX files and the Installer.exe file. BUT ALL TOME FILES ARE MISSING
If I open the DVD in some windows computer, I can see all the files.
In the day I install wow under Linux, I use wine 1.0.0 for install WoW Classic and TBC, I copy all files in the hard disk and then install. No installation problems. BUT I cant use this version actually because WOTLK needs more recent version of wine.

someone please speak up.
First, use the latest dev version of Wine.
Second, add the "unhide" and "udf" options to your optical drive in
'/etc/fstab', as I show in this example from my Debian Lenny install. The
first two fields may look different on yours.
/dev/scd0 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,unhide 0 0
Third, use Winetricks to install 'IE6'. You won't be able to accept the EULA
without it.
Reboot, just to be anal about things.
Before you try to install. mount the DVD and see if the files are now
visible. REPEAT, do not try to install here.
Post your result here.
