windows(?) codec (or virus?)

Post by Thufir »

The README for an AVI file I downloaded is:

Some people have reported not having the correct FLV Codec.

If this is the case with you, just download the codec from

Moderator note: link deleted

-- it's totally free and safe and all that and will
allow you to see the video if you can't already.

Enjoy!

I can't seem to find much information about this codec. MoviePlayer
tried to find a codec but no such luck. Anyone know which codec it is?

FLV is a container, not a codec. It is Flash video. If you need to upgrade Flash, do so from your distro's repository or the Adobe website.
This is an attempt to get you to download malware.

And just as a further note, MPlayer and GStreamer-based video players (like Totem) can play FLVs completely fine.
