CivIV - Warlord version 2.13 Issue

Post by mastermazen »

Good Evening everyone,

I'm currently trying to run CivIV Warlords v 2.13 on a Fedora 12 system. The version of Wine is 1.1.38. Everything installs correctly, and the game is patched to 2.13, but it will not start.

I get what seems to be XML errors on runtime. I looked up the application on WineDB and tried the fix using msxml3.dll, but I have had no luck on that front.

I am new to Wine, so I may be using the msxml3.dll file incorrectly. What I have done is copied it into the system32 folder in the Wine directory and told wine to use Windows Native. Is this the correct way to get it to use the file?

Also, if anyone has any tips/information about getting this version of Civ to work with Wine, your input would be appreciated.

Install it with winetricks.

I found that when I installed the extra dll files in to the civ program folders this may have been fine for base civ 4; however, as I was launching via the Beyond the Sword option I needed to put them in to that directory too. I suspect you might want to put the dll files in to the warlords directory.

Hope that helps, I'm also new to Wine and Linux so don't shoot me if it doesn't solve your problem. It worked for me.
