Hi readers,
like already mentioned in the topic i've got the following System
with the following problem
Ubuntu Karmic 64-Bit and Wine 1.1.39
the Wine installed with 32-Bit version and i can also run some simple
programs which i also know as 32-Bit e.g notepad
i also wanted to test a few games which are gold status at appdb
but i cant get even one of them to simply start up!
i always get the message "unsupported architecture (adm-64)"
when i run "file <program name>.exe" it tells me that its also a
32-Bit program
so whats the problem at this point ? normally im not that stupid but
i cant get the cause out of the message. i try to run a 32-Bit program
with a 32-Bit wine on a 64-bit os. should be alright that far or have i
missed something ?
for every game its the same message Borderlands,Drakensang,Mass Effect 2
would be glad about some help! - when i can get a few applications run
with wine im finally out of windows
i installed nothing special - only the os and then wine. added a few additional
software with winetricks which are written here to be needed by one
game or another
thanks in advance

You might want to be sure to run latest wine (1.1.40) [use "wine
--version"] instead of
distribution default 1.0.1
See http://www.winehq.org/download/deb for more information.

..at the nvidia drivers installation i answered "yes" to the question
if i want to install the 32-bit compatibility dlls/libraries/whatever
or is there a special package for wine ?
thanks for your hint
Where did you get 1.1.39? Did you install the package from here (http://www.winehq.org/download/deb), some other source, or compile it yourself?
It sounds as if you manually installed the nVidia drivers instead of installing the packages from the Ubuntu repos. Any particular reason for that?
I'm running Wine (compiled from Git) on a 64-bit Karmic and 64-bit Lucid machine with nVidia cards and the nVidia drivers from the Ubuntu repos, and have not seen the issue of which you speak.
