[Resolved] Wine 0.9.46 and Warcraft 3 Reign of Chaos

I've installed Warcraft3 Reign of Chaos with wine 0.9.56 nut when i start it , it crashes.The error is:

This application has encountered a critical error:

FATAL ERROR!

Program: C:\Programmi\Warcraft III\War3.exe
Exception: 0xC0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at 0073:7D477AAC

The instruction at '0x7D477AAC' referenced memory at '0x00000034'.
The memory could not be 'read'.

Upgrade your Wine version it's too old.

if problem persists try renaming the movie files in the movies folder. dont forget to run it with a -opengl flag

try to update your .wine dir with wineprefixcreate

I've tried with wineprefixcreate but the problem remains.

I've tried with wine Warcraft\ III.exe -opengl
and after some time (when appear and disappear my desktop) it starts sometimes with audio sometimes without audio.

What are your computer specs? video? drivers? memory? is your memory
in healthy conditions? have you ran memtest+ on them? what about the
video... do you have native video drivers (in case of ATI or NVIDIA)?
onboard video perhaps? what brand? are you, by any chance, using any
kind of NoCD-Crack? what about patches, have you fully patched
War3?...

By providing more information, we'll be able to help you better, and
faster since we both won't lose time asking questions like these :).

I thought i'd post here, since i'm having almost the same problem but i have a patched (1.21b) installation.

The error i get is:

FATAL ERROR!

Program: C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\war3.exe
Exception: 0xC0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at 0073:7D8EB790

The instruction at '0x7D8EB790' referenced memory at '0x00000010'.
The memory could not be 'read'.
After i press OK i get an error saying the it can't access the cd and if i would please insert it.

Which is weird since i don't have this problem on my other computer. Running wine-0.9.58, a clean .wine dir and i even copied all files to a new directory and added it under drives in winecfg.

Help? :)

Forgot to mention that in my terminal window, i see the following messages after starting war3:

Thank you so very much!!!! That let me play warcraft 3 on my laptop with linux and Intel 945gm graphik card on ubuntu 8.04, quite well! Thank you!
I searched a while, but can't find anything, that helps, now only the -opengl flag was missing.. :roll: great. Maybe that should be added in the APPDB warcraft 3 entry...
