I'm a noob, what do I do

Post by whitesox2368 »

I have a mac, and I want to play this game, but someone said I need a program that runs XP to play it. They recommended this program, so I read it and it said it works for macs, but on the download page I have no clue which to select. Can someone tell me? BTW, I have a black macbook, not Leopard.

What game is it? Your chances are slim, since only a few
games work with Wine, but if you tell us we might have some advice.
Have you checked to see if it's listed in
http://appdb.winehq.org/ ?

As long as it's an Intel-based mac, you have a chance.

My guess is, given your noob status :-), you'd be better off
with the prebuilt, packaged, supported version of Wine at
http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxgames/
Give that a shot first...

Have you started by reading the available documentation?

1. What is the name of the game?
2. Further information is pending the answer to #1 (and I'm not the
only one who asked this question.)

It's a free online MMORPG called Last Chaos, and I haven't seen it on any of the lists. I'm really trying to avoid spending any money.

Last Chaos works in WINE, I played it once but disliked it because it
ran too slow in my old GeForce4 Ti 4200 (no OpenGL... ouch!) and it
was another Lineage clone.

Good thing is that it has some kind of GameGuard that doesn't mind if
the user uses WINE or not, it runs happily. Or it didn't have
GameGuard, I can't remember much, but I remember playing it.

What I don't know, is that if it will work under WINE @ Mac...
