Nvidia 190.09 Drivers are Great!

Post by Cloudef »

Latest Nvidia drivers for linux has really nice speed boost. Most noticeable when gaming under Wine. When playing some latest games i had weird pauses at some effects. Now all of them are gone and the game I'm playing is almost smooth all the time =)

For Ubuntu Deb packages i suggest this PPA for latest Nvidia Drivers. https://launchpad.net/~thefirstm/+archive/ppa

The only bad drivers I have had in the last year was 180.29 all other
versions were trouble free. I am using 185.18.14 now but I will try
the 190.09 soon.

Dint those have the strange random X server crash issue? I had them too now that i remember, but the issue was fixed quick by nvidia.

That and also weird issues with the console. I mean console
applications had problems. I do not remember the specifics because I
quickly switched to a different version after hitting the bad
driver...

Umm..the latest Nvidia drivers is 185.18.14 not 190.x. Those drivers are only for Windows.

Where you getting this information?

try looking in the beta section -
http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk

look at the bottom of the page, the 190 drivers are beta drivers
(although i believe they will be included in karmic if you use ubuntu)
