Ubuntu crashes when gaming
Hello,
I am a french Ubuntu user since a few weeks. So, please excuse my English and my Technical knowledge.
I've got a problem when I play games with wine : my computer crashes and reboots.
I tried two games : wow and oblivion.
Here is my config :
ubuntu 9.04 « Jaunty Jackalope » 64 bits + Ext 4
Graphic card GeForce GTX 260 PLUS - 896 Mo DDR3
INTEL Core 2 Quad Q9400 - 2.66 GHz
3 x (KINGMAX DDR2 PC2-8500 - 2 Go)
I use the last wine stable version.
Could you help me ?
Thanks a lot.

Hi,
thank you for your answer.
I play with Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope 64 bits + Ext4
My wine Version is 1.0.1
And I Use Nvidia's not free video driver - nvidia-glx-180 (don't know how to get more details :s)
I really need help, Yesterday night, my system reboot 5 times in two hours when I was tanking a mob ^^

Problems like this indicate an improper video driver installation. ItOn 07/23/2009 06:29 PM, bouc-hemisphere wrote:

Ubuntu crashes when gaming
What might help is turning off fancy appearance options in Ubuntu. Switch it back to the most basic appearance option and check again.
