Bugzilla Registration fails

I want to add a bug in bugzilla, and I must register before. When I try, my ask seems to be accepted, and I have the message:

To confirm the creation of the user account [email protected] (my mail address), use the URL given in the email you will receive. If you take no action in the next 3 days, this request will automatically be canceled.

The problem, is that I never receive this mail. I look directly on the webmail, and I'm sure not to receive it, even in the spambox.

When I try to ask for a new password, the system answers me that this account doesn't exist.

When I mail to wineHQ.org, I receive a mail from wine-bugs-bounces[at]winehq.org where I can read this:

Do not mail wine-bugs directly. Please post in Bugzilla at
http://bugs.winehq.org/.


How can I make my registring action completed ? I don't know how more to do :cry:

I have tried again to create a Bugzilla Account, the transaction is complete, and I have the message that I must answer the mail I will receive, but always no mail...

Can a webmaster answer what I can do to register to bugzilla ?

Look in your junk mail folder for it.

Sorry, but as I said in my first post, the mail isn't in the junk box (that I called spambox).

To be sure, I looked for my mail with the mailbox.

register a gmail email address and use that... you can change it to your preferred email after

Hum, I never wanted to have a gmail address.

Is wineHQ married with Google ?

It's perhaps a way to do it, but I don't like it. Is there a way after to delete this gmail count ?

I really don't like it...

Can I have an answer from a webmaster of this site ?

Not required to access WineHQ that I know of. I've been with Earthlink for years and I don't want/need a gmail.com address. Are you asked to get one when you sign up? It may be that Wine has banned your ISP because they are a known to produce a lot of spam. We don't need/desire/require that stuff. Spamming Bugzilla is a really bad thing and has happened in the past.

It sounds like your mail provider is in fault. It works for me, it works for plenty of people.
There are other mail providers out there, register an address with one of them (gmail is a very good one, once again there are others.) and try the bugzilla account creation procedure again. As jeffz said, you may change your email after that.

Not a solution! The user should be able to register using their present e-mail address.

Why go through all of this? Unless an ISP is blacklisted, Bugzilla should be able to register to any e-mail address that meets the RFC standard. If the ISP is blacklisted, a warning message should display that confirmation messages will not be sent and the account will not be activated. No need for a new Bugzilla user to wonder. It may be the ISPs problem if confirmation messages are deleted upon receipt.
The OP should not need to create a second account just to get on Bugzilla only to find that their original account is unacceptable to Bugzilla. This is what appears to be happening.

I've never heard of ISPs 'eating' messages, except when a site is blacklisted. The OP should be able to ask if WineHQ.org is blacklisted. I would be very surprized if it is. If this were true, creating a second account and switching to the first would result in any follow-up messages being eaten. That does not solve the problem that the OP wants to overcome in the first place. Again, Bugzilla should pop-up a message if the OPs primary domain is in the blacklist stating so and the OP should contact their ISP to see if WineHQ.org is on their blacklist or has to be white-listed to allow traffic through. The OP should not have to create any further accounts in order to access Wine's Bugzilla and receive mail from it.

Try using mailinator or some other anonymous free email to register,
then switch to your other e-mail. File a bug afterward, if you're sure
bugzilla is the problem.

Have you contacted your ISP to ask them?

For the OP - are you or your ISP running any type of spam block or
filter software? I have run into registration problems several places
because of ours. In our case the spam filter grabs emails from addresses
it hasn't seen before and shoots a message back to the sender's server
asking for verification information. As soon as that is received the
email shows up in my inbox, if it is not received then the email gets
trashed. Many spammers systems are not set up for the verification so it
never happens and I don't see their mail, but sometimes non-spammers
systems, including some handling list registrations, do not respond
either. Sometimes I can let the people know and they change their system
to handle the verification, other times I have to do the work around
mentioned before of using a throw away email address.

Hum, I first want to say that I haven't wanted to open a troll.

Secondly, I must say that I have register without problem on winHQ forums. But I don't know if it's the same server and mechanism to register.

I don't think that my isp (orange.fr) have banned Bugzilla IP address (but who knows), because the spam filter seems just to route spam to a spambox, and seems not to delete it. And I have a lot of spam mails in the spam box( about one hunded in a day).

But for sure, after having deleted all the spam in the box, and register to Bugzilla, no answer in the spambox, nor in the receive box. I suppose too that my isp IP isn't banned by Bugzilla, because I have a message giving me the info that my registration will be ok when I will answer to the mail I will receive.

I suppose that Bugzilla would send me an error message in this case.

I'm going to register with another address (same provider) to test. But I surely don't want to create a gmail box to do it.:wink:

It works with my other mail.

I don't understand why Bugzilla fails with my other mail. Probably a bug.

But for sure, an admin have the possibilities to find why.

For now, I'll try to change and put my first mail to test (hoping it will not block my account :?

When I validate the change of my mail, Bugzilla refuse it.

My address is perhaps banned ?

For now, I'll keep the second mail address.

Could be that someone else attempted to register using that address and
it failed or the user was banned from Bugzilla. Don't know as I'm not
an admin, but together we verified that the address was the problem.

Kind of unrelated, but... What exactly do you have against GMail? It's a very good mail service, and you definitely don't have to use their online email checking thingy if that is what bothered you...
