Star Wars Galaxies Help

Post by RoninGT »

OS: Ubuntu 9.04
WINE: 1.1.20

I am having only minor issues with SWG but i was wondering if they are correctable. So ill list them here.

Using W key or any keyboard key for movement, Moves my toon for a few steps and stops. I need to repress the key to get them to move again however the above just repeats.

Some textures in game do not show they are just transparent (Not a big deal)

No names over heads of other toons or items. This one is major for instances if you ever play the game. Anyone know how to fix these issues?

Thank you

Do you have any XIM/CIM modules activated? Are you using any keyboard layout switching tools, like xneur?

Ask your distro forum. The programs I've mentioned are known to cause all sorts of input problems for Wine.

Same here.

I can confirm this issue.

It's interesting because if I start running forward and hit another key during (jump, strafe, etc.) than the issue doesn't occur and I can keep running forward.

I noticed that bug several weeks ago, already before upgrading my ubuntu to jaunty. I don't remember when this started though, moving around worked like a charm before this issue occured some weeks ago.

I'm not playing much SWG too much and I don't really care about those bugs anymore, just wanted to confirm it's a bug and probably a wine bug (I'm doing regular ubuntu updates though, so I don't know for sure), but if I was about to do anything useful like quests, instances etc. it would totally destroy gameplay, that's for sure.

Sorta got used to the work-around mentioned above, autorum and /follow though lol

And I also checked if deactivated keyboard-layout-thingies etc. would solve this. It didn't.
My xorg keyboard setting is german and before the bug occured (not sure if it was the exact same time though) the keyboard layout reported to swg were English, before it suddently changed to German, maybe some keyboard related wine parts were changed back then?

Maybe I'll look into this when I'm bored... or file bug reports as I should have done several weeks ago I guess :/

Which textures for instance? Screenshot? I don't have this issue .. I think (nvidia 9600 gt, with custom wine d3d settings and swg gfx options though)

Can't reproduce this either. Make sure you have them activated under options->misc
Also make sure that you don't have any client modifications installed, especially no ui mods as they tend to break the user interface after every bigger ui patch.

have fun,
jay

EDIT: minor correction

Only textures i having issues with is the new houses they just released with gu9 just some floors and walls not a bgi deal.

Reguarding the overhead names i seen on a youTube video where a guy said he changed his WINE.cfg or something file to get names to come over head.

Not sure what thats all about but no, No mods what so ever.
