have wind installed on desktop and laptop with mepis lenny

I have installed wine on my mepis 8.0 desktop and laptop. Wine runs Netscaper Navigator on the desktop but not on the laptop. Why??? (newbie asking). I'm on the desktop now asking the question---

Terminal output? What doesn't work?

I have downloaded Netscape Navigator 9.0 as one of the WIndows pkgs I'd like to run. On my desktop computer (Mepis 8.0), I can click on the Navigator .exe file and Wine jumps right up and starts the browser. I have followed the exact same steps on my laptop computer (Mepis 8.0) with the download of Navigator 9.0 and when I click the .exe file on the laptop Wine spins in the taskbar but the browser never starts. I'm just learning (very slowly) how to use Mepis (and Linux, as far as that goes) and am not a programmer in the slightest. So, things that don't work exactly alike when all the components are the same have a tendency to derail my thought patterns.

Try running it from a terminal and attach the output.

Thank you for your reply... I have no idea how to run a program from a terminal... so maybe I'm into something way beyond my reach..

I reveiwed the link content you refered to me, cd'ed to the .exe location, ran the command listed below and got the result shown (but-- the installer ran, installed navigatror and then it started!! WOW:-) ) i then clicked on the icon created on my desktop and voila!! navigator now starts from the desktop!!!

I'm not sure what exactly happened but i shall try the same method on other Windows programs i've got just to make sure i know what to do---- thanks again to all who helped!!
