Wine does not start Counter-Strike 1.6

Post by Squall90 »

Hello,

I wanted to try out how Counter-Strike 1.6 works with Wine.
I have an Archlinux System (32 bit installed, but I have a AMD Athlon 64) with Wine 1.1.17.
Steam works fine and Counter-Strike is installed but if I start Counter-Strike, there's just a loading dialog that dissappears after one or two seconds...
I tried with strace but there's no really interesting output..

Has anybody an idea?

Thanks

Well, if the output is not interesting for you, it might be for someone else. For instance, is it crashing or simply exiting? I don't know about strace but it should be possible to see a call stack?

It used to work here under Wine 1.0.1. You may also want to post your system specs.

Go into settings and disable the in-game community.

A lot of people didn't have to do this until post-1.1.14 or so, but it now appears to be a requirement to run anything.

See http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t ... ight=steam for the original thread.
