Steam games will not launch

I've tried both 1.1.15 and 1.1.14, and I can't get my Counter Strike Source to launch. And this used to work on 1.1.14. I even cleaned out .wine, and reinstalled Steam.

All that happens is a window comes up and says "Launching Counter Strike Source...", then the window closes, and the game never launches.

I have the same problem, but for all of my Steam games. I'm currently using 1.1.17

Did you disable "steam community in-game"? Also have you got rid of pulseaudio?

steam is a piece of crap ~~ It hangs even in my vista box. Valve 'updated' it recently, maybe its their patch?
