Wine on windows?

Post by shunesburg69 »

I know, it's a strange question
but I want install Wine on windows
Why?
Because of compatibility, I use XP
and I want use win 3.x applications,
and vista applications. I think wine
it's a possibility, I use it on linux but
I don't want reboot all time.

Je sais, c'est un question bizarre
mais je veux installer Wine sous windows
Pourquoi?
À cause se la compatibilité, j'utilise XP
et je veux pouvoir utiliser des applications
win 3.x et des applications vista. Je pense que wine
est une possibilité, je l'utilise déjà sur linux
mais j'ai pas envie de rebooté tout le temps.

Thanks for your answers / Merci d'avance pour vos réponse

Wine on windows is harder than you can dream. Few major problems executable loader of wine is not that portable to the windows platform.

It simpler to run windows either in a virtual machine on Linux or Linux in a virtual machine on windows. To do what you want.

Yes, I know a emulator will be good
but I have a low configuration
and I just ask if it's possible.

Oui, je sais un ému irait bien mais j'ai une petite
config et je demande juste si c'est possible.

It's bed-time see you later.
Il est je repasserai A+.

Currently, no.

In the future, possibly, but doubtful. Use virtualbox to install a
older windows version, or use XP's compatibility mode.

Work is documented at

http://wiki.winehq.org/WineOnWindows

Currently I'm stymied in even compiling the thing.by Cygwin's header
files clashing with Wine's. My next scurvy trick will probably involve
Parity/Cygwin or Parity/Interix.

It's a project strictly for amusement's sake, given the fact that it
won't be able to launch apps! But yes, it would be a useful thing to
get working, so I wouldn't call it a waste of time.

(I'm at home on-call for the next week, so living in XP, so I may have
time to have another good go at it. More people would be most useful.)

One possibility for you would be to run a windows 3.x installation under VirtualBox, hosted on either Windows or Linux.
