BattleFront II -- UnderWine NEED HELP BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by JavaGeek1212 »

Hi I have been trying for days to get StarWars BattleFront II working in wine.
I have tried installing the game in wine then running it.
I see a wine desktop launch blue background 1 second later it closes for no reason at all :x
I saw on other forums that battlefront II does not work great in wine but it launches and plays.....

NOT ON MY COMPUTER FOR SOME REASON....

ANY and I mean any help on this would be great!

P.S. I run Ubuntu 8.1.0

Run it from the terminal and attach complete output here.

ok here is the output it gives me;

i typed this:
wine start "c:\\Program Files\\LucasArts\\Star Wars Battlefront II\\GameData\\BattlefrontII.exe"

and it told me this:
fixme:exec:SHELL_execute flags ignored: 0x00000500
jacob@Battlefront2:~$ fixme:dinput:SysMouseAImpl_Acquire Clipping cursor to (240,212)-(1040,812)
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DImpl_FillGLCaps OpenGL implementation supports 32 vertex samplers and 32 total samplers
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DImpl_FillGLCaps Expected vertex samplers + MAX_TEXTURES(=8) > combined_samplers
fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x23ff380,0x00000000), stub!

And then it would not launch.........
RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRr!

I AM VERY ANGRY ABOUT THIS CAUSE I NEED TO TO WORK!

Go back through this topic and read what vitamin requested you to
provide. Find that information, post it here and then be patient.
Sometimes it takes time to research a problem, and sometimes it takes
one or two other Wine users to look at the problem, figure it out and
reply. I know this is hard, but please remember most of the support is
by volunteers who give their valuable time to assist others resolve
problems they encountered. Of course, a little research on your part
helps as well. Did you look at the Wine Applications Database for this
program and any bug reports, previous attempts to run this program and
possible work-arounds? They may already exist or it may not be possible
to run your particular program at this time, sad to say.

Here is the link to the battlefront 2 test results:

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... n&iId=3803

I did post the output like vitamin said:

I typed in the terminal:

wine start "c:\\Program Files\\LucasArts\\Star Wars Battlefront II\\GameData\\BattlefrontII.exe"

And then it said this..........

fixme:exec:SHELL_execute flags ignored: 0x00000500
Mike@LinuxComputer:~$ fixme:dinput:SysMouseAImpl_Acquire Clipping cursor to (240,212)-(1040,812)
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DImpl_FillGLCaps OpenGL implementation supports 32 vertex samplers and 32 total samplers
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DImpl_FillGLCaps Expected vertex samplers + MAX_TEXTURES( = > combined_samplers
fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x23ff380,0x00000000), stub!

Since you do not provide any information requested I guess you really do not want your program to work.
