Are you trying to access files in C:\, or change its location?

To a windows partition? Or to some other location on a linux filesystem?

Why not just move the entire WINEPREIFX?

If driver is meant as in piece of software that allows other software
to talk to hardware, it probably won't work on Wine. Wine does not
support Windows drivers...

If you want to access an external drive (external hard disk / flash
drive), it should be mounted in Linux (which may / may not happen
automatically, depending on your distributtion) and you should be able
to access it through the Z:\ from wine. You can also set up another
drive letter for it from winecfg.

If you try to change Wine drive C to your Windows drive C, read the FAQ.

It's easy to do if you know what you doing. Apparently you do not understand - so DO NOT change default location of the c: drive.

Thanks for all answers :)
But my problem was resolved by Wine updating

Wait, how do "changing the location of C:\" and "Something got fixed by updating Wine" correlate?

Total guess, the user had a pre-release of ubuntu intrepid where the
C:\ link in gnome that opens nautilus in what wine calls C: did not do
anything (I had that effect 3 months ago and fixed it myself). And
upgrading wine / intrepid made it work.
