this was the first time I ever needed help with wine, and I get chased away... I get attitude and nothing more...
I always thought WINE was a project like other GNU projects, with fellowship and support for each other... but I just get sodded off...
I am now sitting with a game, which YOUR website claims runs in YOUR software, but I can't get it to run, and YOU won't advise me...
looks like Windows is a better bet after all...
thanks for the help guys

OUR website says to not use PlayonLinux, so going by your logic, we
DON'T support YOUR software.
Wine is a volunteer project, no one is REQUIRED to help/advise you.
If you want someone to hold your hand and tell you it's all going to
be okay, you're the most important person in the world, and we'll fix
all your problems because you're so special, ask your mother.
If you want advice, ask nicely, and try what we tell you. Start by
removing/disabling PlayonLinux, upgrade to 1.1.14 if you haven't
already, retest in a clean ~/.wine and check the AppDB for your
program.

I didn't find anything on your FAQ etc that says not to use PlayOnLinux... and I don't expect people to hold my hand and tell me I am the most important person in the world...
I have since, with out the assistance of WINE forums, worked out how to install DirectX with out POL, since I have now learned that POL doesn't use the version of WINE I have installed but rather it's own version, which means that I can't install NFSU on Wine and DirectX on POL.
The POL forums are even richer with help, with them telling me that they won't help me since WINE can't access the net, and if my game needs to be activated it means its a pirate...
I have installed the latest version of WINE now, 1.1.14 at it works... I did that with out the [-]help[/-] for WINE forums...
maybe if someone had explained to me that what you install in POL has no bearing on WINE... but maybe people didn't read my post...
thank you and have a [-]nice[/-] day

PlayOnLinux isn't mentioned by name, but referenced, and this linkI didn't find anything on your FAQ etc that says not to use PlayOnLinux... and I don't expect people to hold my hand and tell me I am the most important person in the world...

Exactly why we don't support it.I have since, with out the assistance of WINE forums, worked out how to install DirectX with out POL, since I have now learned that POL doesn't use the version of WINE I have installed but rather it's own version, which means that I can't install NFSU on Wine and DirectX on POL.
So it works? Great! If not, attach terminal output and explain the bugThe POL forums are even richer with help, with them telling me that they won't help me since WINE can't access the net, and if my game needs to be activated it means its a pirate...

We don't support it, so we don't know exactly what they do. I've never used it.maybe if someone had explained to me that what you install in POL has no bearing on WINE... but maybe people didn't read my post...
No problem. You too.thank you and have a [-]nice[/-] day
